Overview

Dancenorth's Vital Dance Classes empower participants to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, stimulating and creative.

Exercises are designed to focus the mind and engage the body in both intrinsic and expansive movements, which stimulate memory, spatial and self-awareness. The class includes seated, standing and travelling combinations, always with the option to remain seated. Classes connect participants to their fellow Parkinson’s community encouraging social interaction over tea, coffee and refreshments.

Dancenorth’s Vital Dance Classes are part of the global Dance for PD program developed in New York by the Mark Morris Dance Company and our teachers undergo specialised training to facilitate the lessons. The program's title, Vital Dance, references the first name given to the disease - "St Vitus's Dance". Dancenorth is proud to be part of the Dance for Parkinson’s Australia network, made up of artists and organisations offering classes around the country.

Please Note: These classes have limited capacity. Registrations are essential. To register, please contact Dancenorth. From time to time, these classes may be held at an alternative venue due to changes in Dancenorth’s schedule. Please check our website and social media for weekly class location updates.
