Transitions Panel Discussion

Join us at the Transitions Panel Discussion where you will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the 2024 program and the exhibition. We will hear from four of the mentees and exhibiting artists: Hannah Aiello, Sabrina Toby, Vicki Katthagen, and Sarah Treadwell; as well as the Gallery Manager and Curator at Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts, Daniel Qualischefski, and Senior Education and Programs Officer at Townsville City Galleries, Rachel Cunningham.

Transitions is a partnership between Townsville City Galleries and Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts, that combines mentorship, critiques and development for emerging visual artist mentees. Now in its fourth iteration, mentees have worked one-on-one with established North Queensland artists to develop their arts practices, gain valuable insights into working professionally and to begin to forge a career in the arts. Mentees self-define their goals and receive support and feedback from their mentors, gallery professionals, guest mentors and their program peers.

To celebrate Transitions and its outcomes, Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is pleased to present an end of program exhibition displaying artworks created by the mentees. These works span portraiture, breastplates, photography and sculpture.

The exhibiting artists are Hannah Aiello, Sabrina Toby, Vicki Katthagen, Sarah Treadwell and Lisa Gianni.

We extend our thanks to the artist mentors - Barbara Cheshire, Alison McDonald, Ann Vardanega, Jenny Mulcahy and Jan Hynes - who supported the emerging artists in this year's program

Transitions will be exhibiting at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery from 14 September – 6 October 2024.
