North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA)

Get ready to gather, discover and celebrate at the North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA), returning to Townsville from 25 September to 11 October 2026.

Over 17 days, Townsville comes alive with an exciting program of arts, culture and entertainment, bringing together acclaimed Australian and international artists, North Queensland creatives, First Nations voices and community performers.

From world-class circus, cabaret, comedy, theatre and live music to visual arts, workshops, family experiences and free community events, there’s something for audiences of all ages. Festival events pop up across the city, from the NAFA Festival Hub at Strand Park to theatres, galleries, waterfront locations and other unique Townsville venues.

Highlights of the 2026 program include award-winning productions, spectacular outdoor performances, family favourites, immersive experiences and special appearances from artists including Macy Gray, Hermitude, Teeny Tiny Stevies, Bluey and Bingo and more.

With the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island as a backdrop and Castle Hill on the horizon, NAFA is arts done tropical — a celebration of creativity, connection, community and the unique spirit of North Queensland.
