Celebrate Christmas together at Carols by Candlelight.

Grab your friends and family and enjoy all the fun under the big top on Sunday 8 December at Riverway Oval.

About the Event

A lineup not to be missed – including the 1 RAR band accompanied by the Townsville Choral Society Choir, local performers PLUS a special visit from Santa!

There will be food stalls, arts and craft workshops, roving entertainment, and much more.

Gates open – 4pm
Pre-show – 5pm
Main show – 6:30pm

Don't forget to bring your picnic blankets and chairs.

Seating

Seating underneath the big top tent will be divided into two zones, a blanket-only area and a zone for chair seating. All prams in the blanket area must be collapsed flat.

Safe Flame Candles

This year Council will be handing out free safe-flame candles to the community. Be sure to get in quick before they run out.

Hydration Station

There will be a Hydration station at this event, bring along a water bottle to fill up.

Kidz ID Alert

Queensland Police Service will operate the Kidz ID Alert tent. This is a free service, manned by local police officers and recruits and will aid in reuniting lost children with their parents. They will be located next to the Mobile Police Van and the First Aid tent.

Parking

Event parking will be available at Willows Shopping Centre and surrounding streets.

Shuttle Bus Service

A continuous free shuttle bus loop will be available from 3:30pm to 9:30pm, starting and finishing at Riverway Bus Stop on Ross River Road.

This will include 11 designated bus stops on the circuit:

3. Golf Links Drive – Ashford Court
4. Kern Brothers Drive – The Avenues Plaza
5. Burnda Street – Kirwan State Primary School

10. Bamford Lane – Parkside Plaza
11. Bamford Lane – Silky Oak Street

Disability Parking

Disability parking will be available inside the Riverway Precinct. Please follow directions given by traffic control and have your disability parking permit clearly displayed.

No Parking

No general public parking will be available inside the Riverway Precinct except for disability parking. This is due to the onsite parking being taken up by the large volume of performers, suppliers and staff. Patrons are encouraged to park at Willows or make use of the free shuttle bus service.

Taxi & Uber

The Taxi and Uber drop-off and pick-up zone will be located inside the Riverway Precinct.

Pedestrian Crossing

Police will be present at each major intersection to assist with the safe access and egress of event patrons.
