Overview
This is a 1-hour event each Monday and Thursday morning from 7am until 8am. For those that are unable to attend the 7am sessions, we also offer a 90-minute session occasionally on the weekend later in the morning.
Payment
Sliding Scale - starting from $11.11. These sessions would typically be priced around the value of approximately $35-$55 per session. The sliding scale allows people to consider what is their value. Mo and Alli (directors and facilitators) contribute a significant amount of their own money and time in running the sessions and keeping the centre open. The sliding scale can also be an opportunity to support the Centre in its continuation to offer a safe space for the community to find themselves.
Things to Know
The centre is air-conditioned. We sit on meditation cushions on the plush Mellow mats on the floor with a low table. There are also chairs if you require that seating. Blankets, bolsters, and cushions are also available for your comfort.
These sessions typically book out, as many people re-book after experiencing this surprisingly wonderful practice.
What to Expect
- This is a loving and accepting community created with intention by Mo and Alli.
- Either Mo or Alli will be serving on the day, with the other warmly greeting you when you attend.
- After being greeted, we enter the meditative space without talking. The ceremony during the weekdays are 45 minutes, 60mins on weekends, with 15 minutes to share your experiences.
- These sessions are an intimate space for gathering of up to 9 people per tea ceremony (7 participants, 1 tea server; 1 assistant).
- Approximately 4 rounds of quality tea are served (typically Pu erh, or Silver Needles tea, or black tea).
- Gentle relaxation music is played throughout the ceremony.
- At the end of the ceremony and the 4 rounds, we share a reading from the 2nd book of the Tao, then open up the invitation to share your experience. We are often surprised by what comes to mind in the presence of tea in silence.
What is Bowl Tea Ceremony
A tea ceremony is a meditation practice, as you focus on the tea and yourself. As you drink tea, you also meditate noticing what is present in the stillness.
It is a beautiful mindfulness practice and a great way to take a break from our busy lives, to come into stillness and gain access to the information of our spirit and consciousness that is available to you in this mindfulness practice.
The Benefits of this Meditation Practice
- Receiving information - People often get a great deal of information -sometimes called 'downloads', or insights that they like to capture in a journal.
- Calming of the nervous system.
- Connection - to ourselves, and to others.
- Stillness, clarity, and help improve your wellbeing
- Medicinal properties of the tea.
- Encourages us to put pauses between our actions.
Please Note
- We ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes early, to settle the mind and have either Mo or Alli explain what to expect.
- The bathroom , filtered water and some seating space is available before entering the ceremony.
- You are encouraged to bring your own notebook and pen, however all is provided if you prefer not to.
With love and light, thank you for being here.
Mo and Alli.
