Vietnam Veterans Day

On Friday 18 August, Australians come together to commemorate the men and women who lost their lives in the Vietnam War.

Vietnam Veterans Day was originally known as Long Tan Day which honoured the men of D Company, 6RAR who fought in the battle of Long Tan in 1966. 18 Australians lost their lives and 24 were wounded in this battle, the largest number of casualties in one operation at the time in the Vietnam War.
