This year, Council has reworked the much-loved ‘Christmas in the City’ event to ensure that the festive season can be celebrated in a COVID-safe environment!
You are invited to come and experience Townsville’s very own Northern Lights running from Friday 27 November – Sunday 3 January.
The Northern Lights Trail begins in Flinders Street and takes you on a walking tour of the CBD, showcasing magical light displays and features an augmented reality adventure!
Be one of the first to discover the six Christmas themed experiences hidden around the trail and be sure to check out the augmented reality street art murals, the list of locations can be found here.
Check out the trail map to see where to start and for our daily program. Please note the lights turn on every evening at 6.30pm and switch off at 11pm but we recommend viewing from 7pm.
This free, family-friendly experience will have something for all ages to enjoy – day or night!
The Cotters Markets team will also be running two specific night markets on Friday 27 November and Friday 11 December to coincide with the trail. It will be the Cotters Markets you know and love plus food trucks and live music to complement the night. Located at Hanran Park in the CBD from 5 - 9pm – be sure to check it out!
