Townsville is set to host three pool matches for the Rugby League World Cup!
This year, the best players and teams from around the globe will descend on Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea for the Rugby League World Cup. The tournament will see 14 teams play 28 games over five weeks – all hoping to be crowned world cup winners, in what is the pinnacle event in international Rugby League.
1300 Smiles Stadium, the home of the North Queensland Cowboys will host three pool matches over two weekends, in what is set to be the biggest sporting event in Australia during 2017. The action will kick off in Townsville when Fiji take on the USA, followed by a double header featuring USA vs Italy and Fiji vs Wales.
